The Arts

Enjoy an evening with the Ashland Symphony Orchestra, under the masterful direction of Maestro Arie Lipsky. Our Community Art Center is thriving with opportunities for young and old alike. Programs include early-childhood music, Youth Theater, learning Spanish, photography and various forms of visual arts, and storytelling to name a few. The Ashland Regional Ballet Company performs year around and concludes their season with the annual holiday production of The Nutcracker. Other cultural attractions include the Don Coburn Art Gallery on the Ashland University Campus, The Ashland Community Theatre, and The Johnny Appleseed Heritage Center, Inc., an amphitheater and cultural center located in the heart of the woodlands of north central Ohio..
Recreation

Brookside Park & Brookside West amenities include a public swimming pool, Band Shell, basketball courts, ball diamonds, mini golf course, picnic areas, playground equipment, soccer fields, fishing pond, hiking trails and an 18-hole, public, daily-fee golf course. Ashland County & State Parks include Mohican State Park and State Forest, Loudonville-Mohican Area, Charles Mill Lake Park and Pleasant Hill Lake Park. These natural yet well managed facilities offer a wide variety of activities that include boating, sailing, fishing, hiking, canoeing, and camping. A full array of youth and division sports activities from Division 2 University to peewee soccer, baseball, basketball and football. Another valued Ashland asset in our YMCA. Founded in 1904, this inclusive, character enhancing institution offers a wide variety of aquatics, gymnastics, team sports, and more. A modern daycare and latch-key component add to the continuum of youth and adult services that also boast two indoor pools, two full size gymnasiums, a Nautilus weight facility, and free-weight component.
